Transmission: Prophets and Apostles

How did God reveal His Word through the prophets and apostles? This lesson on bibliology examines the relationship between revelation, inscripturation, and the authority of Scripture. We explore the biblical criteria for prophets, the fulfillment of Moses’s prophecy in Jesus Christ, and the apostles’ role as authorized eyewitnesses who transmitted the truth about Christ. Finally, we consider how apostolic authority, including Paul’s apostleship, relates to the inspiration of the New Testament and the church’s recognition of the biblical canon.
